I've been sketching friends (and one family member) for practice - last ones are as early as october, and the first I did today! Such fun :)

Back in the game

I drew something today =D.

I shouldn't be up right now, but I keep waking up at 1AM and then staying up until 4 or 5AM and then falling back asleep. I partially think that I keep waking up at around 1AM because my housemate and her boyfriend are always being loud until 4 or 5AM. I have no idea when she needs to (if she needs to) get up everyday, but I definitely have to get up early to go work.

Art Therapy

Iron Man 2!!

Yep, I watched Iron Man 2 today, and was awed by Scarlett Johannson's bad-ass-ness.

This isn't necessarily supposed to be her, but whatever. Also, I got lazy, so the finished product is kind of meh.

Spring Break - day one

Ahh spring break, land of the I-can-draw-for-5-hours-and-not-be-behind-in-anything.

3 hours of drawing were devoted to another portrait...a pretty one. Which I like. But I've reached a point where I have to draw fur, which is boring and challenging at the same time, somehow - so I aborted ship and drew this:

Did this in two hours. My goal for speed painting is one hour...so that's reasonable. I spent a long time going "pooo" over the hair, so I think I'll try a different approach to that next time.

Oh and - I has found a new love in deep oranges and reds~~ 8D

Finger Painting

This is a drawing I did today while sitting in on a friend's stats lecture. I made it using a free painting app that I had on my iphone. Considering the palette contained only 25 colors, none of which were skin tones, I think I did a pretty good job. According to Karina, I'm a "BAMF."

Cool (Hair) W(h)IP

WIP from a picture I've been working on since the beginning of this semester. I like purple... Hopefully I will finish this soon. I really want to work on the hair... I kind of feel like I overworked the skin though, because it doesn't really look smooth (which is okay) but it looks like it's trying too hard to be that way.

A work in progress

My goal for the rest of the semester is to draw one, 1-hr photoshop portrait a week. Here are the first attempts:

There's much work to be done, but I'm happy to have started on it. Johnny Depp may appear again, because he's not finished, but pretty asian girl will have to be scrapped and redone later if I like the photo enough.

Visited an old art teacher today and hung out for a while in her classroom. While I was there she gave me a doodle game: take someone's old watercolor test square and make it into a new piece of art. Here's what I ended up with:

Spring Break Blues (and other colors)

WAGHHHHH! Spring break is half over!! What have I been doing?!?!

Well, I couldn't do the animation as I was expecting, on account of spending my time coming out and having fun for a change. We've met two cool kids and adopted them into our group fo

r the time being. We've been going to lunch/dinner, shopping around town, and watching movies. Overall, it's been a productive week compared to Thanksgiving where I felt like a big lump of hermit.

So about today's drawing. I drew this a few days ago when I didn't have much to do =P. I kind of like how I did the hair, but the rest is the standard bland cut-out that I normally draw. Hmm, it's been quite a while since I've drawn, so maybe I'll ramp up to the better stuff I had.
